while a baby was sitting upright with her legs out ... she admits to pushing her and holding her down ... essentially folding her in half. "do you agree by doing that, that was an intentional act? the act of pushing her down? yea. do you agree that was an unreasonable use of force torture or cruelty? yes." she also admitted to shoving rags and towels into their mouths in some cases to get them to stop crying. williamson never offers a reason why ... but admits to having a series of mental health problems. "i was in the intensive outpatient at lutheran for six weeks. tell me what that is. they help you learn to deal with your bipolar, your anxiety, your depression, your ptsd and your eating disorders." kattey:

her husband turned over to police hasn't been released yet. williamson is out on bond until her sentencing on december 8th. in the studio kattey ortiz for local five news we are iowa. stephanie/2shot: christina williamson faces up to seven years in prison. jack/2shot: and we're still waiting for a verdict in the trial of pete polson. as we continue to look at news from the courtroom. jack: prosecutors say polson went on a shooting spree in pleasant hill last november, seriously injuring two people and nearly missing a third. he faces three attempted murder charges, two willful injury charges on top of other drug and weapons charges. just the attempted murder charges could bring 75 years behind bars. jack: through the five day trial, we've seen 40 witnesses - 37 of them coming from the prosecution. that included special agents, pleasant hill police officers, and shooting victims themselves who've taken the stand, tell jurors they were inches away from losing their lives. "i cant say its been

claire polson himself took the stand on thursday and friday, telling the jury he doesnt remember anything from midnight the night before the shooting until the cops arrested him the next morning. he told the jury he doesnt deny committing the crime, he just doesnt remember. "you went to mark mitchells houe across his yard and shot him, no it wasnt me. i wouldnt do that, i dont know. are you denying you committed the crime? no im not denying it. i just heard screaming, just wake up from this- mr polson- nightmare. mr polson answer my question... i did "

jack: on friday afternoon, the judge gave the jury 69 instructions, calling it a short novel. so it's not a big surprise that deliberation is taking such a long time. again no verdict has been reached in the pete polson trial today. they'll resume tomorrow morning. local 5 will be there when the verdict is reached. stephanie/ots: iowa's governor wants to privatize medicaid. that plan has some iowans and state senator rob hogg asking how this will benefit everyone. hogg is also the chair of the state senate oversight committee. in an email to governrn branstad, hogg asks for specific details on his plan. hogg says that he and other iowans doubt that this plan will save money and on behalf of the oversight committee he is quote, "formally asking you to release the evidence you used to calculate privatizing medicaid will save the state of iowa government $50 million in the first six months of 2016."
6:04 pm
stephanie: local 5 made it a point to ask the governor about his plan during his weekly press conference today... under the umbrella of medicaid healthcare, is a program called hawk-i. hawk-i is an option for families who need insurance for their kids. "22:48:51 amanda - why would you consider transferring the administration of that program to out of state companies? 22:49:10 branstad - we're doing what 25 other states have done. going to a manages care system to better coordinate benefits. " stephanie: the hawk-i board was not asked if they approve of the governor's decision to try and privatize the hawk-i program... and some of the board members, including state senator janet petersen are not happy about it. "13:03:20 i imagie most members of hte hawk-i board would say if it's not broken why fix it. i would imagie if we had an opportunity to vote on it, we'd keep the existing program as it is. " stephanie: there could be a legal issue here as well. the iowa attorney general is looking at whether the governor overstepped when he made
6:05 pm
the decision to privatize hawk-i without approval from the board. but none of this is a done deal, even though the out of state companies have been picked, the federal government has to give the okay on these changes. jack: a shooting in the 1300 block of east 12th street in des moines. so far, police haven't found the shooter or even a victim. a witness called police sunday, saying the victim, a hispanic man, told him he had been shot. officers found one shell casing home. the investigation is on going. jack: an armed robbery on the east side of des moines yesterday. it happened at the git-n-go on east 29th. a store clerk was held at gunpoint and robbed by a man in a blue hoody. the clerk says the robber threatened to shoot her if she pushed the alarm button. he ran out of the store with cash. jack: a possible phone scam in altoona tonight. the police department issued a notice about a scammer posing as a mid american energy employee. the caller threatens to turn off your power and provides this number to call. if you do have questions about your billing, go to the mid american energy

jon: iowa state's schedule isn't doing the cyclones any favors. this week they have to try and take down the best offense in the nation. today the team talked about being ready for the challenge,
6:17 pm
embracing it, and shock linwood the big 12 leading rusher who is overshadowed by a high powered aerial attack. " the last two teams we just played are two and three like i just told you 700 yards is a hundred more yards a game than tt and tcu does. we got a great challenge our kids understand that and as always they look forward to the weeks work and what will be at the end of it. it's a big challenge mentally but if you're a football player you love competition we'll be up for it and our defense is up for it. you gotta come out and play every weekend when you're in a 3-4 defense just like we came out flat against tt we knew we couldn't do that against tcu so we're in a 3-4 defense so the linebackers gotta run. the outside linebackers gotta run and when we can out run them it'll lead to success. put some game film on and watch him go the distance get handed the ball. their receivers are so good and that's why i think they overlook their running game they got a complete offensive team. linnwood is a great player, a great player, he's strong he's fas he's powerful he's got a great one cut ability. he's got outstanding
6:18 pm
offensive line is pretty dang good too. " i think you gotta start with the pass first and force them to run the ball because they got so many weapons on the outside with those group of receivers. you get people deployed to defend a coleman you get a one on one tackle situation in space in the field and he makes a guy miss or he doesn't make a great tackle and there's no body else but the back judge and he ain't made a tackle yet. iowa state takes on baylor with a kickoff set for 11 am saturday morning from waco. tune in to cyhawk rewind as jeff woody helps me break down on the game film. akrum wadley-- iowa's sophomore running back-- is the big ten offensive player of the week with 26 carries for 204 yards and four touchdowns a huge day against northwestern this past saturday as iowa moves up to number 12 in the ap football poll. now an article on hawkeye nation dot com is getting some attention.
6:19 pm
it's titled dear america: iowa doesn't care what you think. it's written by jon miller-- a former radio show host in des moines. he talked about how all of the national media overlooks iowa or gives them negative attention because of the schedule they have left. he noticed it particularly this last saturday from kirk herbstreit then in the coverage of the iowa northwestern game-- and felt something had to be said. but not everyone is taking kindly to it. " a lot of criticism about iowa's schedule the remainder of this season and while we can all agree it's not a world beater i just think both sides of the narrative aren't being shared iowa's schedule and the results of that schedule thus far are pretty good and i felt like that was being ignored." some people from the state say i sound like i'm whiney a person don't whine about things like that some people calling me a hypocrite for being pro iowa and pro ferentz right now when last year after the nebraska game i felt like it was time for a change i certainly said that and felt that way then kirk ferentz came out in january and said that he needed to make a lot of changes needed to reevaluate the program from stout to stern. he's done
